Mississippi Private Investigator Licensing Requirements
Currently, a private investigator license is not required for the state of Mississippi. Since laws change frequently, those who are interested in becoming a detective, or those who are already operating as a private eye in other states, should check with the appropriate Mississippi state licensing agency to determine if a license is required.
Other Requirements

Join an Investigation Association
If you plan to conduct investigations in the state, we recommend that you join the Mississippi Private Investigator Association (MPIA). The MPIA is a non-profit organization comprised of professional private investigators in the state.
