What is a Bank?

A bank is a depository financial institution that accepts deposits and channels the money into lending activities. Banks are where most people conduct financial transactions such as depositing and withdrawing money, cash checks, applying for a loan, getting a mortgage, purchasing investments, etc. Due to the financial crisis that began in 2009, many institutions on this list of banks were forced to close their doors due to financial problems.
